Hotels around Nairobi Downtown-Places to sleep in Nairobi
Panafric Hotel Kenya 1.
The outdoor pool is larger than most in-city hotels. There are comprehensive conference facilities. The hotel has six suites and 42 service apartments suitable for longer stays, in addition to single and double rooms. The hotel has an oblique view of the city's skyline which is just a few minutes away by car, set on a rise near Nairobi's Central park. You drive through a BP petrol station to reach the entrance of this modern concrete structure. The Panafric hotel can accommodate approximately 350 guests.
The Sarova hotels which have bought the Panafric has in recent past refurbished it to high standards and the place looks anew. Cor is very plain; the dé.
Utalii Hotel Kenya 2.
Utalii is good value for money. The service and food are great, with all those students learning to help you. Students work with the hotel's professional staff to learn the hotel industry. This pleasant modern hotel is eight kilometers from the city center acts as a practical training unit for students at Utalii College.
But we prefer the rooms on the garden/pool side, rooms on the highway side of the hotel have air conditioning to block out the noise. And balconies, large windows, all have been recently redecorated and have ensuite bathrooms. The three story hotel has 43 double rooms and seven suites with kitchenettes.
There are two tennis courts and guests can golf at the Muthaiga Golf course. And the pool is one half Olympic size, the gardens around the pool and pool bar are very inviting, however. It has no real African character-the hotel could be anywhere, although the Utalii hotel is tastefully decorated.
The Kent mere Club 3.
There are colorful gardens all around and lush green tea in the distance. This small hotel nestles on the side of a hill in Tigoni Highlands about 20 Kilometres from Nairobi. The grounds and country setting are the best features of the Kentmere Club.
Lunches are served on the veranda and in the garden-if you can afford the wait. The club bar is wood paneled. There is a large dining with Tudor beams and red tablecloths. The club is like an English country inn.
Cor are both tired; the beds and dé. Fireplace and veranda, each room has its own bathroom. There are 16 double rooms in several garden cottages.
Tennis and swimming, guests at the Kentmere Club are welcome at the nearby Limuru Country Club for golf.
The blue post Hotel Kenya 4.
Today the falls are quite wide but rather muddy with more than a whiff of industry. Early settlers stopped there for tea and talk and to see the falls from the hotel's garden. The hotel was built in 1906 on a promontory where the Chania and Thika rivers meet to form the Thika and Chania Falls. The Blue Post Hotel still attracts a mixed cross-section of Kenyan residents, just off Thika road (A2) approximately 40 kilometers from Nairobi.
Thika has little appeal for the tourist, except for the Blue post Hotel and Delmonte Company. There are large conference facilities. And an outdoor market where local crafts are made and sold, view point for the falls, it still has expansive grounds with outdoor eating areas. The hotel has seen better days.
